the week is almost over.

Thank God!! It is has been too long… I am ready to relax this weekend, study accounting and get some things done to this site!

The A&M game is this weekend but I seriously doubt I will go. The reason being is that I don’t really want to stand in line for 4hrs to watch a football game that we have a chance to lose. A&M may have played poorly their last two games but we have no defense whatsoever and if they can stop our short pass game we are done for.

wow

Well it is the end of the week and thank God it is… I am ready to just relax and not worry about tests. If you are wondering how they went, well they went ok. Statistics could have gone better and will definitely go better next time (since I now know how her tests are) and Economics was a breeze. A good way to end the week. Now to focus on Accounting….

If you are looking to make your internet browsing experience more fufilling, may I suggest Mozilla Firebird. You can download the install file here.

It is definitely worth downloading since it conforms to web standards that most other browsers don’t (ex. – Internet Explorer). So download it, try it out, and you will definitely notice a difference. Let me say though that it is still beta software. It is stable but it is not a final release (this is version .6.1). You shouldn’t have any problems but there are always chances, but don’t worry, this thing won’t corrupt your OS.

Alright, now for the serious stuff… I am truly sick and tired of people who say that the current economic situation in the U.S. is due to Bush’t economic policy. What do I say to those people? I say, ‘What are you, retarded?’ Anyone with some common sense knows the economic and fiscal policy do not take effect for at least 3 yrs. but on average 4. So, let’s think about that…. 4 yrs. ago who was the president of the U.S.? Oh that’s right, Clinton. Am I saying all of Bush’s current economic policies are right on the money? No. I do not agree with the tax the poor and leave the rich alone policy… However, most of Bush’s recent actions to stimulate the economy have gone ok and it will take more time to see if they can do more. You must also realize that Bush isn’t the person who sets the interest rates and really runs the economy. Alan Greenspan does. Anyone who has taken 12th grade economics should know this but I guess some people slept through that class. You want to blame someone, blame Greenspan, who could have 5 years ago made changes that would have prevented a recession that was made worse by 9/11. People criticize Bush and I think what would you have done if you were president? You wouldn’t have acted like Bush that’s for sure… And those of you who are displeased with Bush, take a minute and think about what our country would be like right now if Gore was president during all of this… I can’t even imagine, I don’t want to imagine…

first tests of the year…

Got my first test of the year tomorrow. I am not sure how hard they will be but I am not worried. Economics is pretty much a no brainer with definitions and easy equations. Statistics may be a little harder but can’t tell until I take it.

Accounting is killing me. I am going to regroup this next week and figure all of this stuff out… I think the confusing part is when you have an asset that you debit and then an asset that you credit at the same time. To me, that isn’t theoretical… but oh well.

a couple of things…

First off I thought I would share my thoughts on the drivers in Lubbock. They are horrible!! They drive like every other person on the road has all day to get from one side of Lubbock to the other. When the sign says 45, go at least 40, please!!! When you are making a left turn using the median, don’t slow all the way down while still in the main flow of traffic, it messes up the flow!!!

I have 2 tests on Thursday, one in Economics and the other in Statistics. Both should not be very hard at all considering that they are both Multiple Choice.

lubbock drivers…

Is it just me or do people in Lubbock drive really really slow?? I guess it is because I am from a bigger city and we like to at least go the speed limit! I swear, no one in this town knows that there are signs on the side of the road that tell you how fast to go….

We had a company BBQ and meeting today. We all got these pretty nifty t-shirts, though I am not a big fan of t-shirts (would have rather had a polo type shirt). But it’s ok.

Lauri’s husband is going to take a look at my power steering pump in my truck tomorrow afternoon. I know it has gone completely out because it isn’t making anymore noise and is even harder to turn than it was before. Shouldn’t be too expensive though. I still haven’t gotten a CD player put in and I probably won’t for a while. It isn’t a big priority on my list so I’ll do it when I have the time and money.

I have an economics test and a statistics test this coming Thursday plus I need to keep up with accounting even more than I already am. I am finding the methods that some of these classes use to teach the students are a little insane. For accounting I basically have to do my homework twice. The first time it is on paper and the second time is on the computer… Why not do it all at once you ask? Well basically sitting at my computer desk trying to do math and read problems is not the easist thing in the world to do, especially when you like browsing the internet. Maybe they should just let us turn the homework in on paper. I haven’t talked to anyone that likes doing the homework on the internet, so don’t think it is just me complaining.

thieves

Yeah, you heard right, my truck was broken into on Wednesday morning. They took my CD player and ran so the odds of finding them are slim to none.

I already got the glass fixed. A nice guy at the local Ford dealership gave me a piece that he had laying around that fit perfectly. See, there are good people in the world to make up for the wrong doings of others.

tableless designs

For all of you non-“believers” out there of tableless web design, take a look at the CSS Zen Garden. The entire design (and every design on the site) is comprised only of Cascading Style Sheets, text, and images. There are no tables used in any of the designs. This is hopefully what badice.com will look like in the near future.

For those of you who wonder “why should I use CSS instead of tables” well the answer is simple. When Tim Berners-Lee (creator of the WWW) decided to write specs on the whole system he clearly stated that a means to separate content from presentation was needed. Since that time HTML has been corrupted with useless tags like <blink> and others. Designers started using tables to form nice flowing layouts and everything was nice except there was no conformance to standards across all browsers. So basically a site could look amazing in one browser but not even work in another. This is where CSS comes in. It allows designers to totally get rid of tables and completely separate their content from the way they present it.

Tables should only be used for tabular data, duh.

whew…

I made it through my accounting quiz with a 100, so I am happy. The professor made it a little easier by giving us a few hints and I’m glad she did.

The weather is getting a little cooler here with temperatures around the 60’s in the morning and mid 70’s in the afternoon. It’s going to be cold soon and for some reason I am not excited…. oh that’s right because cold here = 20 degrees!!!

a little update

Well I finally got around to updating the classes page with my new classes for this semester. I am still working on a new design but lately Accounting homework has been taking up most of my time.

Everything other than that is going ok. Statistics doesn’t seem to bad except for the fact that the teacher makes everything seem harder than it really is. My ISQS class is easy as pie but the stupid TA that teaches the lab didn’t tell us that we couldn’t buy the PIN number to login to the test page, so I gotta figure out how to do that… fun stuff.
