not been a good week…

Well it hasn’t been a good week so far…. Last night my truck broke down, again. By the time I replace all of the broken stuff I will have a brand new truck!!

Now I have an Economics test on Thursday that is over 5 chapters, so that will be no fun whatsoever. It is too much information crammed too close together to be of any use. And my next Accounting test is next Tuesday…. way, way, way too soon…. I am still recovering from the last one. And don’t even get me started on Statistics.

Overkill

Ok, to me, basic business theory should be that if there is an easier, cheaper way to get something done then the company should do it that way. Some of the things I have been doing are complete overkill and part of it has to do with the technology I am limited to using. Don’t get me wrong, Microsoft’s .NET technology is great, but it is simply overkill for some projects that I have been working on recently. Why would I want to write 200 lines of code when 30 can get the same job done faster, cheaper, and more efficiently. The thought process behind all this boggles my mind. How can a company be so one-techonology centric?

Basic common sense would dictate that to be successful a business would need to branch it’s horizons and become a powerhouse rather than too focused. It is somewhat depressing. Secondly, if your primary client is a large company, don’t you think you would branch out and find more clients? Aren’t you somewhat shooting yourself in the foot with one client?

Microsoft Reps Arriving…

Well I just found out that a bunch of Microsoft big shots are coming to good ‘ole Lubbock and in particular, SmoothFusion to meet with us and see where we do our work. There are a lot of things planned with them and hopefully I will get to talk one on one with them and listen to what they have to say about the I.T. market and more specifically the Microsoft market at this point in time.

not a lot of news…

It’s been a slow news week… Big news is that I made a B on my accounting test, which suits me just fine! Some other interesting news is that last night a car in the apartment complex caught fire and burned completely up. I heard a fire truck but didn’t get up to look…. I saw the car this morning completely burned out with nothing left but the shell….

I have been working on the site and have still been unable to come up with a decent design that I like… I have been thinking about buying a new domain and starting all over.

it’s tomorrow…

Yeah, that’s right, my first accounting test is tomorrow… I will be extremely happy after I finish it. It’s not that I am worried about it, I just want to get it out of the way. Everyone has been making a big deal about how hard it is going to be even though it is multiple choice and the teacher has even told us it isn’t that bad… Once I take it though it will be a serious burden off of my chest. The test time is 6:30-8pm tomorrow so that gives me a little cramming time in between class and the test so thumbs up to that!

questions…

Well back when I first started doing this whole website thing the question was raised, “where did you come up with badice?”. Quite frankly, I have no idea. I started doing word combinations on a domain registration site and this was the best I could do (I know, I must not have tried too hard)… However, yesterday I did a Google Search and it spit out a result I had never known about. Badice is actually a town in Slovakia…Weird huh? This is the site where I got the startling information: http://www.traveljournals.net/explore/slovakia/map/132/badice.html.

Great read…

Vinnie Garcia has a great little article up about CSS and HTML and how misinformation messes a lot of people up. If you are a designer or thinking about designing, check out his article.

I have had to disable the ability to add an entry to the guestbook because of spam that I cannot seem to get rid. I am working on a solution to keep it from happening again but who knows when I will have time to finish it.

the week is almost over.

Thank God!! It is has been too long… I am ready to relax this weekend, study accounting and get some things done to this site!

The A&M game is this weekend but I seriously doubt I will go. The reason being is that I don’t really want to stand in line for 4hrs to watch a football game that we have a chance to lose. A&M may have played poorly their last two games but we have no defense whatsoever and if they can stop our short pass game we are done for.
