I have been in Houston since June 4th working on training and meeting with the office management down here to discuss things like Sharepoint and some project management issues.

Quite frankly I’m ready to get back to Dallas. It is not that I hate Houston, I am just ready to get in a groove of work that does not involve an extended stay hotel. I figure that if I am paying for an apartment I should at least use it.

I won’t be back in Dallas until the evening of the 23rd. Up to that point I am trying to find interesting (cheap) things to do in the Houston area. Since I grew up here I’ve seen most of the tourist attractions that the people I am here with want to see.

So far this has been the toughest thing to deal with while traveling. Not having a quick and easy way to check my e-mail, read the news, or blog while in the hotel makes me feel disconnected. Even though that sounds awful it is completely true, and it’s amazing how much I take for granted on a day-to-day basis without a laptop.

This is why a MacBook Pro is so appealing right now. I will be buying one as soon as I can.

I found a song in my collection that I must have downloaded some time ago. The song is titled “Telescope Eyes” and it is by a group from Tyler, Texas called Eisley. After listening to the song, I proceeded to download their new album from the iTunes music store.

Their music is a giant story and is rockish, yet soft enough to enjoy on speakers at work. If you are a Radiohead or Coldplay fan then you will probably really enjoy the new album, titled Room Noises.

I will be driving back to Dallas with my mom and brother tomorrow and preparing for my first “official” day of work. It’s been a good break but I am ready to get to work and actually have something to do each day.

My trip to Houston has been fun and it’s been nice to see my family but I am definitely ready to be back in “my” home. Hopefully I will have some more time to post when I get back there. I have a lot on my mind that I would like to write about, just have to find the time.

I was actually able to play a little America’s Army with Patrick over my break. Had a good time, though he learned my terrible secret of being a “spawn reloader”.

Disappointing, that’s the only way to describe it. From the previews it seemed as though they were going to reveal a little more information as to why the plane went down and who the ‘Others’ are.

They touched on the issues, but in Lost style, were as vague as possible. I will probably buy both season one and season two to keep my memory fresh as the series takes a break for the summer.
