Well it has now been snowing for 2 straight days (a rarity in these parts) and there is probably about 5-6″ on the ground. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow but I am starting to doubt it. Watching the snow at night is a pretty cool thing, especially when it is thick enough to reflect the light of the moon. I could seriously get used to this kind of weather, though, I would need some heavier clothing to be out in it everyday… The funny thing is that Lubbock actually looks pretty nice in the snow (rather than dust). I know it is my eyes just playing tricks on me, but it’s cool nonetheless.

drool…
This is beautiful. Adam Polselli uses it for his photography and the pictures are stunning (probably after a little touch up work on his part. Still, the camera is probably one of the best for its price.
Over the next few days…
Well over the next few days I will be redesigning the database that controls this site… The code that controls the database will be done in all OOP. I am not making any guarantees as to when this will all be finished because of my time frame on a Java project for school.
I am going to plug Mozilla Firefox as an alternate browser to Internet Explorer. Like I said before, the Firefox name is somewhat stupid but the browser itself is getting closer to my idea of perfect. It is small, fast, and not packed full of bloatware. As soon as the incorporate the extensions manager into it, Firefox will probably be unstoppable.
More Snow…
Well it is snowing right now (11:30pm) and we are supposed to get something like 3-5″, so hopefully they’ll cancel classes. I could definitely use a break from my Tuesday/Thursday classes, but we’ll see.
Interview went well…
Well my interview with Segars Communications went pretty well. They are a 2 yr. old company that seems to have a fairly stable head on its shoulders. All in all I thought my interview went very well and I think that Tim (the owner) and I were on the same page. So, we’ll see how this all pans out (hopefully for the best).
Tuesday and then the week is over…
If I can just get through today the rest of the week will go by very fast. I have a Managerial Accounting test tonight after 5 hours of class, supposedly the test isn’t supposed to be hard but you never know with some of these teachers.
I have an interview tomorrow with Segars Communications. They are looking for someone to do PHP/MySQL work so hopefully I can get better hours and pay than I am getting right now. Another big plus for me is that it is a whole lot closer to home and even closer to school, cutting down on my truck gas bill.
Mozilla Firefox…
Well I am not too crazy about the name but Mozilla Firefox was released this morning and I am pretty impressed. The browser is basically Firebird with improvements and a name change (because of legal reasons). Hopefully traffic to its homepage will die down by tomorrow and everyone will get a chance to check it out.
Database troubles…
Well I put a bunch of stuff into the database yesterday to show up on the main page and it looked like it worked, everything showed up like it should have. Well today I get on and everything I put up was gone… I have no idea what is going on, guess it is time to do a little sleuthing.
MySQL
I have been working on some stuff here at work that involves connecting to a database and basic queries. Well, I decided I want to do some experimentation with MySQL and C# so I downloaded ByteFX and MySQLDriverCS to see which one I liked better. MySQLDriverCS seems a little easier to use although I am still confused as to how to execute a simple query and return the results in a datagrid. I am using C# so if anyone knows how to do this please e-mail me at ssegraves [AT] alltel.net.
Mass. High Court Rules for Gay Marriages…
I could not believe this. Very disturbing (in my opinion at least). I have also heard a rumor that the U.N. will soon be releasing a document that states that gays/lesbians are equal and this should be recognized under law. This document from the U.N. won’t make it mandatory but instead, a suggestion. I seriously have no idea what to think about all this… Almost makes me sick.
